Does Your Website Have this Problem?

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

When was the last time you updated your Web site and looked at the content? If it has been more than a few days, you may be losing out on a lot of new business.

Take a moment to look at it now. Is it speaking to the needs of your customers or does it focus on product and service features?

People are rushed to find information that is cost-effective, credible and helpful. If potential customers can’t find what they need on your site within seconds, you’ll send them right to the competition – and this is a big problem.

Instead, make it easy for site visitors to find solutions to their problems. Now, I know you have other priorities and updating your website may be a huge project. But it doesn’t need to take a lot of money.

Simply take some time to review your site with your customers in mind, and remove all of the content that they just don’t care about.

Check for:

- Long-winded company information;
- Unnecessary technical details about all of your product and services;
- Grammatical errors and misspellings;
- Old news and information;
- Requests for private information; and
- Any boring content that doesn’t benefit customers!

Just by spending a few minutes looking through your site, you may find some big mistakes that can be fixed quickly and boost traffic and conversion rates fast. Then, you can turn your focus to the bigger SEO projects, articles, podcasts, newsletters, and other online activities on your list to help grow sales.

Are you Putting Off Your Dreams Until Tomorrow?

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Even though things are tough right now, are you putting off your dreams or are you taking steps to make things happen?

To help me, I actually have a sign next to my desk that says “no excuses.” After all, it’s easy to fall back on things like the bad economy, a busy schedule, being tired, etc. But when you make excuses, it just causes negativity and stops positive action.

Are you a procrastinator? If so, you may run out of time before you know it. And wouldn’t it be sad if you didn’t at least try to pursue your dreams for a better life just because of negativity or fear?

To break out of your rut, try to do something to work towards your goals every day. Tape a photo of your family members, dream house, vacation, etc., whatever motivates you near your desk.

And for extra inspiration to help you get moving, check out the advice on this site and others:
